When I was younger
Living in London
Back in primary school
I was way behind
The linguistic tide
Family and friends swam away
Leaving me to fight against the current
Or, give up and be swept away
Never to be seen again
A tutor across the way
Offered to teach me
Some oral tricks
Still unknown to me today
I entered his apartment
With my folder and books
Nothing to worry about
I never left
People ask all the time
Who are you?
Where have you been?
All I can say is
I don't know
Still waiting for me to appear
