Living In Black

To define ones self
As nothing more than a color
Is to put one race down
While raising another

So the dictionary
Would have us believe
That to be black
Is to be the color of coal
A gift at Christmas
For bad boys and girls
Absent of light
The opposite of white

Hell is black
Heaven is white

Haloed be thy name
Jesus Christ, a Jew
With a bronze complexion
When he was crucified
Rose from the dead
Unrecognised by family and friends
A white Roman Catholic

With such prejudice
Between heaven and hell
The segregated dictionary
Makes life black
