Nothing's Sacred

The serpent
A misunderstood creature
Long before christianity
Was worshipped
By many civilizations

The serpent
A symbol
Of many Godly qualities

All the themes
Mentioned in the Bible
Belong to older
More sacred beliefs
Stolen and twisted
To gain power
With the wrath of God
Over mortal men

The weak
The unruly
The outspoken

To bring us to our knees
To look to false prophets
For our salvation

The father
The son
And the holy ghost
Have more in common
With the serpent
Than man

Maybe Jesus died
So the serpent
Could survive

A sacred creature
Inspired the cross
A blessed union
Of the sun God Ra
And the eternal serpent
What the Egyptians
Called the Ankh
We call the crucifx

A symbol of hope
More a warning
To those who stood
Against the injustices
The atrocities
And inequalities
The church has profited

Man has no dominion on earth
Words written by man
Corrupting our lives

What we have inherited
Is not ours to destroy
But to protect

The earth belongs to nature
We're all gonna be
A part of her one day
How would you like to be treated?

Respect all living things
All life is sacred
Even serpents

Just don't ask
A brainwashed catholic
All they will see
Is the enemy
Not a God on its belly
